Most of all, guests don’t know about GM. Because they only enjoy hotel staying. But if you have interest about hotel staff, you can find GM easily.

Today I’ll introduce my friend k. Peter Lucas. He was General Manager of the Westin Grande Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel.
Now he is GM of Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit hotel.
I first met Peter in 2017 October. We talked a lot, even I was not good at English. Peter has good ability to communicate with anyone. And he always respects Thai culture and Thai people. So we became friends! I gave many informations of Korean market to Peter. That’s why you can enjoy Korean foods at breakfast buffet in Westin.
Leadership is the best virtue of General Manager in these days. Helping other staff is the most important role of GM. So I think that hotel business is the art of cooperation.
The great leadership improves the satisfaction of guest experience. Therefore GM has to think about perfect balance of profit, revenue, service and guest.

Especially I think communication with guests is as important as leadership. Peter made a group of regular guests in Westin Bangkok hotel. Because of Peter, we have to know each other. And now we contact personally. Sometimes we even arrange our travel schedules. On every morning, you can find one of us at Seasonal Tastes.(^^)
This is the very ability of Peter.

Now you can find k. Peter in Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit hotel. Fortunately I heard of very good news. Many guests are satisfied with the hotel’s F&B services. Peter invited me to test hotel’s cakes on August 15. 2022. Desserts would be the next battle field of hotels. This day I tried 3 kinds of cake. Mango, Lemon and Chocolate.

Executive Chef just stated to work at hotel. So line-up of desserts was not perfect yet. I talked with Peter much of desserts.

Peter is a chocolate maniac. So we exchanged thoughts about chocolate cake. As you know, chocolate desserts are always on people’s wish list.

Finally Peter upgraded hotel’s signature cake. The reason why I like him as a hotel’s GM, Peter has not only wide views but also detail views. General manager has to keep the guest’s “Viewpoint” as well. A hotel cannot exist without guests. That’s why GM has to communicate with guests continuously.
Do you know the name of book “the Art of War”? The name of this cake is “the Art of Communication”! (^^) New executive Chef k. Mattias is innovating hotel’s kitchen from the bottom. I really appreciate k. Peter and k. Mattias.
